Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you frequently explore?
Depends on the day! While a new dog is acclimating to the group, we stick to on leash walks to make sure our new friend is a good fit and comfortable with us. On muddy days, any pavement trail will do. For the most part, we will frequent any forest, that is a dog friendly hiking trail located in Richmond Hill or even the York region area.
How many dogs are on each walk?
Six! We always make sure the pack is full of like minded dogs, so everyone gets along and has a great time socializing.
Most of our clients have young high energy medium to large dogs. If it sounds like your dog would have no problem fitting in, contact us to reserve a spot!
What kind of training do you do?
We work on leash manners, proper socialization skills, recall and thresholds going in and out of the car. The dogs are always rewarded for good behavior with praise, head scratches, and the occasional treat.
Most dogs only need a few pointers here and there. For the dogs that need more help, training walks can be purchased until your dog is ready to join the pack!
When the weather is bad, will my dog come home dirty?
Choosing the appropriate place to walk is very important, especially on muddy days. When the trails get muddy, we walk on the pavement if possible. All the pups are wiped down once in the car and before entering your home. We do our best to keep your dog as clean as possible. you’ll be given a heads up before your dog arrives home if they are dirtier than usual.
Will my dog be off leash on the trails?
Only if your comfortable with it. Before being let off leash, all the dogs recall skills are tested during our regular on leash walks. If I call their name and they look back at me, that’s the first step in gaining my trust. Next time we would them on a 20ft long line. They get a little bit of freedom, and we test their recall skills some more. Once I trust your dog and you give the okay, they can be let off leash on the trails.
IMPORTANT: This freedom can always be taken away. if they’re not consistent in their recall, we move back a step to guarantee they’re always kept safe.
My dog isn’t dog friendly, can you help?
First we need to assess how ‘not dog friendly‘ your dog may be. If they only need some basic training (leash pulling, minor dog reactivity) and socialization, I can defiantly work with you and your household to resolve the issue. If you need more help than I’m able to assist you with, I will find a trainer more suited to your situation.
